A land of creativity…

Our recent travels to Milan Salon de Mobile and visits to Tuscany, Venezia, Lago Di Como and Rome were abundant with design, art, passion and explosive energy!!! Food for the soul, literally!

An appreciation for beautiful things was everywhere!!! From glass blowing to fast cars, ruins to modern interiors. Finding the new, creating the new and being the best and proud at something was reciprocated in each Provence we visited.

On our discoveries we were delighted to uncover family connections to furniture making, more specifically one of its most important components, fabric and yarn!

We got to explore the making of beautiful yarns in the heart of Italy, Tuscany. A personal family tour, sharing their childhood stories of farm life in Puglia whilst watching the intricate blending of natural fibres such as linen, cotton, bamboo and silk being woven into beautiful quality yarns was amazing to see and touch.

We work with fabrics every day, It made me realise how important it is to highlight, to respect and appreciate the material you use to cover your dream sofa. At Salon de Mobile one thing stood out and that was no compromise on the upholstery cloth; velvets, textures, weaves which manufacturers use to cover the frame of a sofa, it was integral to the product design.  How wonderful it would be to see more furniture covered and displayed in beautiful upholstery fabrics for customers to understand and enjoy.

It is important to understand that a frame will stay strong and is generally backed by structural manufacturers warranties, it is the fabric that needs to endure the constant abrasion, the stitching, fabric provides the texture, it is what we touch and aides in the comfort so choose wisely and invest in good fabric our customers will be much happier in the long run!

My favourite Molmic..

Staff picks

“My favourite is still the Alicia loose cover.  I have this in front of my open fire place and after 20 years still looks brand new.  As I have a big family and lots of grandchildren I love my sofa!  Whilst Michael’s favourite is the Aston, as it’s such a versatile design, suiting so many looks and interiors.  Masculine, feminine, modern, classic and perfect for commercial projects.
